WHAT IS ACT ONE?
Act One aims to demystify the process.
In this 3-hour course, we will cover a multitude of topics and educate you on how things work. With examples of marketing materials, guidance on how to get on-set experience, and even a section on the Canadian actors union ACTRA, we want you to leave with all the information you need to get into the business. Whether you want to be a film actor, compete for high-paying commercial gigs, or hear your voice in the next AAA video game, you need to understand what to expect, and what's expected of you.
WHAT IS ACT ONE NOT?
What you will not find in this workshop are promises.
Acting is not easy, and the business of it is at times even harder. Any workshop promising you success is lying. Making a successful career requires hours and hours of practice, unpaid auditions, outreach and constant updating of your materials. And even then, many will never land a lead role in a major film or television show.
But if you have the undeniable urge to give this craft a shot, and are ready to work your butts off, it can create some of the most rewarding and memorable experiences.
This is also not an "acting course". I have taught acting workshops in my Montreal studio, but this is first and foremost a workshop about everything else: consolidated information and guidance on the process of becoming a professional, auditioning actor.
