The CompuRead Multisensory Reading Program is a series of seven courses. Level 2, continues with more advanced reading and writing concepts such as; phonetic elements of /wh, ph/, the beginning and ending blends of /ch/, /sh/, atch, alk/, /itch, atch, otch/. In addition Level 2 emphasizes the letters of ing, ang, ong, ung, ink, ank, onk, unk.

Level 2 is for the kindergarten and 1st Grade child and teaches more advanced skills the 5-6 year old student would need to further develop his or her skills in fluent reading and writing.

All stories include a downloadable PDF workbook designed for the student to writing in. This develops handwriting skills along with several aspects of eye-hand coordination leading to more advanced reading and writing activities up to the 6th Grade.

This level has 10 stories, each with three modules broken down into easily managed sections a parent and child can study.

Each module has its own video and instructions to successfully accomplish the activities leading to fluent reading and writing.

Module 1 - (Steps 1-3) introduces the child to the background of the story. This provides needed information leading up to the story and helps the child to more fully understand what the story is all about.

Module 2 - (Steps 4-6) takes a deep dive into the many reading activities needed to become a successful reader; phonics, writing, spelling, vocabulary and speaking.

Module 3 - (Steps 7-9) works with Science, Story Mapping and activities to be accomplished in the home with parents and siblings.

All CompuRead levels and modules are highly organized and systematic in its presentation of needed reading skills. It provides a daily framework for your child or student to follow.

CompuRead was written by teachers that specialize in reading education for the learning disabled and dyslexic learner. They have over 75 years of combined reading education and have taught in home schools and in public and private classrooms.

All 68 stories have a Main Idea or Value Theme designed to instill into a child quality individual personal characteristics, such as:

  • Taking Responsibility for One's Actions

  • Knowing How to Get Help in an Emergency

All stories within all the levels consists of nine defined learning steps within each story. Those steps are:

  1. Main Idea or Value Theme. The Value Theme provides a character value needed by all students.

  2. Prestory and Background. It’s a proven education concept that having a background to draw upon for the young reader, provides a foundation for what will be learned later in the lesson.

  3. Listening to the Story Narrated Without Interruption. This is the narration of the structured story and the main section of each story lesson and it’s always followed with many activities for the student to enhance the learning to read process.

  4. Phonics, Writing and Spelling which includes phonological awareness. This is critical for the young learner to master the sounds and blends of letters and learning how words are woven together in the writing process. Proper spelling is highly emphasized.

  5. Fiction/Nonfiction Writing. Many opportunities are presented throughout CompuRead for the student to express what is being learned through the written word.

  6. Vocabulary and Expressive Speaking which includes three levels of comprehension; literal, inference, and critical. Having an excellent command of vocabulary and being able to express it effectively is an indicator of outstanding future success.

  7. Science Background. Designed for the young mind and to enhance the knowledge of the story’s subject, we provide further content to expand the student’s learning experience.
