learning mathematical thinking, critical thinking, math problem solving skills

This course aims to stimulate a creative spark and help develop skills for

mathematical thinking. Solutions to selected math Olympiad problems that require

unconventional thinking and inventiveness will be demonstrated utilizing complex thought

experiments with clarity and precision in a relatable and inspirational manner. Major concepts

and principles such as the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, Pigeonhole (or Dirichlet)

Principle, Mathematical Induction, Invariance, Equivalence Relation, Combinatorial Principles

will be explained in the context of unconventional thinking. Instead of utilized facts, they will be

absorbed to become an inseparable part of mathematical intuition. The course is open for middle

and high school students, mathematics teachers, undergraduate and graduate students in STEM

(Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) disciplines, and STEM professionals from

around the world who want to hone their mathematical thinking and problem-solving ability. The

course will primarily help middle & high school and college students to sharpen their skills for

competitive math competitions like American Mathematical Contest (AMC), MATHCOUNTS,

American Invitational Math Examination (AIME), USA Math Olympiad (USAMO), national

and regional math Olympiads worldwide, International Math Olympiad (IMO) or Putnam Competition. In a

broader context, the course will help professionals to enhance problem-solving skills by

expanding and sharpening mathematical and logical thinking abilities.
