Course Objectives:
Historical Context: Gain an understanding of the historical and cultural context in which Gurmat Sangeet developed, from the time of the Sikh Gurus to the present day.
Philosophical Foundation: Explore the spiritual and philosophical aspects of Gurmat Sangeet and how it serves as a medium for connecting with the divine.
Musical Elements: Study the core musical elements of Gurmat Sangeet, including Raags, Taals (rhythmic patterns), and Shabads (spiritual hymns), and how they are intertwined to create a unique musical experience.
Vocal and Instrumental Techniques: Develop practical skills in both vocal and instrumental aspects of Gurmat Sangeet. This includes understanding the intricacies of Kirtan singing, playing traditional instruments like the harmonium, tabla, and sarangi, and the use of the Sikh scriptures in the performance.
