How to establish personal boundaries at work while strengthening relationships with colleagues and boss?
You might say, “That’s not possible?”
As a business and career coach, I often encounter the same problem with my clients. In 8 out of 10 cases when it comes to personal boundaries, people choose the strategy: “Raise the shields and defend!” They act sharply, directly, and sometimes even aggressively, ignoring the feelings of those around them. The result? Instead of established boundaries, there are conflicts and damaged relationships.
Sound familiar?
At one time, I also struggled to set boundaries. I didn’t know how to say no to work, friends, and family. When I finally became exhausted and was on the verge of burnout from taking on too much, I started saying no too harshly, hurting and angering others. Then I also suffered from feelings of guilt.
Back then, I didn’t know there was another way. But nearly 7 years have passed since then. My education in coaching, 6+ years of coaching practice, the creation of my educational programs, and studying tons of information on this topic have helped me understand why many people approach boundary setting ineffectively.
But there is another way.
