Design anchor bolt and base plate as per ACI 318 and ASCE for petrochemical facilities code

The design of anchor bolts and base plates is crucial, as they serve as the connection between the steel structure and reinforced concrete foundations. Therefore, designers must be well-versed in both disciplines.

This course covers the application of ACI 318 and ASCE standards for designing anchor bolts and base plates in petrochemical facilities. It includes the calculation of anchor bolt forces and base plate stresses, along with a discussion on anchor bolt materials.

Up-to-date design methods will be thoroughly explained, with a focus on stress analysis, which is the most commonly used approach for both fixed-end and hinged connections. Additionally, the course will demonstrate base plate design using Hilti PROFIS software, which employs the finite element method (FEM). This software is very powerful and can use for normal anchor bolt and also special. The methodology of using this software like similar software as Idea Statica, Ram or others. There is also an Excel sheet developed based on industrial practices. Participants will receive this Excel sheet at the end of the course.

The course will also cover various types of anchor bolts, their material properties, and practical applications. At the end the attendees will be capable to design the anchor bolt and base plate  for any type of project as steel structures or anchor bolts for mechanical skids in case of petrochemical industry.
