Rationale

• Malaysian national debt had surged about 48 times from 1978 to today, which constitutes about 65.6% of Malaysian Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

• Bankruptcy had been on the rise due to personal financing debts and loans with most people filed for bankruptcy are among those aged 25 to 34.

• Understanding debts and solving them are important to ensure that people have financial freedom.


Objective

The objective of this programme is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to understand the operations, periods and clearing of debts in a systematic manner to enhance the value of money.


Competency Standard

There are no relevant competency standards but the references are

• Code of Conduct from the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM)

• Code of Conduct from the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC)

• Guidelines from Agensi Kaunseling & Pengurusan Kewangan (AKPK)

• Guidelines from Personal Financing by the Central Bank of Malaysia

• Guidelines from each banking institution on loans, personal loans and credit card’s Product Disclosure Sheets
