COLREG for license exams.
If you are preparing for the skipper license exam ( EU ) or practising, this mini ( COLREG ) course is for you. Simple and easy...
The topic is navigation lights and daytime signals of ships, buoys and rules. The basic lights and daytime signals that can be questions for a beginner skipper exam. Primarily for the Croatian B navigator qualification, but recommended for anyone wishing to take any navigator exam.
Lights for powerboats, fishing boats, sailing vessels and lights for workboats ( manoeuvring restricted vessels, tugs ) will be covered in the second part of the course and the nine daytime signals.
You will learn the fundamental rules of give way rules in navigation, including when and to whom to give way, the hierarchy among vessels and how it affects right-of-way rules, as well as the most commonly used buoys.
There will be a test at the end of the course to make sure you have learnt it. Aim for a 100% result.
These are very important things to know when you are sailing, because you need to know what kind of ship you are going to meet and what to do about it, as the lights of the ships will show you where they are going, what kind of work they are doing or what condition they are in. This is a part of the bases of COLREG and the rules of avoidance, the hierarchy between ships. Hierarchy can override avoidance rules, as can practicality in many cases.
Good Luck and remember: SAFETY FIRST!
