Hey educator!

I am glad you are here!

I hope you will enjoy this course and learn much about puppets as a teaching tool in early childhood education and care.

Puppets helped me to connect with many children, and teach important concepts, such as numeracy, literacy, sustainability and respect for Country.

I cannot imagine my teaching day without puppets, as they are versatile tools and big classroom helpers!

I started using puppets for teaching in small groups more than 20 years ago. I used them for my storytelling session in St Kilda library to support language development and literacy learning.

As a kindergarten teacher, I organised a puppet show every day after our afternoon tea and it became our tradition. I have organised a lot of workshops on puppetry for my vocational education students, where we learned the basics of using puppets and made a lot of puppets from loose parts. As a relief teacher, I bring puppets as part of my relief teacher pack. This course is the result of years of experience working with children and using puppets as my teaching tool.

This course will guide you in using puppets as a valuable tool for teaching and engaging young children in early childhood education and care environments.
